The Travelling Man – The Story of Tapio Rautavaara

Tapio Rautavaara (born 8 March 1915) was a beloved singer and a film star but also an athlete of international fame. All these three aspects of his career are presented in photographs, objects, film clips and recordings at the exhibition of the Sports Museum celebrating his Centenary. On display are Rautavaara’s Olympic gold medal from javelin throw at the London Games of 1948, costume from a mock western movie, guitar and his trademark straw hat. Visitors can also watch excerpts or Rautavaara’s films and listen or sing many of his most beloved songs.
