The Sports Museum will open in 2020

Return to the Olympic Stadium

The Sports Museum will return home in 2020. Our renewed exhibitions and services will be opened in their familiar location in the western wing of the Olympic Stadium after the renovation works of the Stadium are finished. There will be some changes in our premises: the exhibition rooms are enlarged while the library and research facilities are located downstairs.

Planning of our new exhibitions is well under way. Based on our unique collections, our new Permanent Exhibition will tell the story of Finnish sport in a different way, focusing on emotions and the various meanings that sport has had for Finnish people from the 19th century to the present day. Also opened at the same time will be a special exhibition on the history of the Helsinki Olympic Stadium.
